Gerald Blanchard

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gerald J. Blanchard, Husband of Yvonne Chiasson Blanchard, announces his passing which occurred at Chaleur Regional Hospital on Monday October 6th 2025 at the age of 97. Born in South Tetagouche he was the son of the late Stan Blanchard Sr. and  late Victoria Christie. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons: David (Suzanne) of Timmins, ON; Kevin of Cambridge, ON; Bruce (Sonia) of Edmonton, AB, two daughters: Brenda (late Jerry) Philpotts and Johanne (Denis Pitre) both of Bathurst. Ten grandchildren: Michelle, Daniel, Norris, Latoya, Emily, Ben, Eric, Victoria, Mathieu and Dereck. Nine great grandchildren: Liam, Amira, Maliyah, Cameron, Logan, William, Mason, Laurie, Sebastien and many nephews and nieces. Two sisters: Priscilla (late Lionel Frenette) of Beresford, and Claudette (Wayne Loupelle) of Calgary, AB.

He was predeceased by eight brothers: Wilfred, Kenneth, Arnold, Ernest, Lionel, Johnny, Stan Jr, Harvey and three sisters: Priscilla (infant), Marguerite and Lorraine.

Gerald loved his two favorite fur babies: Nola and BB.

Forever in our hearts, he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Gerald was in the merchant marines for three years, In 1954, he started working for Anaconda Mines for 37 years, until retirement.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday November 22, 2025 at 9:00 AM and a funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM at Verret’s Funeral Chapel in Bathurst.
